Find your way around the room
Open Moments from the large photo cabinet, Settings from the key rack, Reminders from the calendar, Stories from the book beside the cat, and On this day from the frame on the small table. The room has no bottom tab bar. Use the top-left back arrow or swipe right from the left edge to return; inside a section, go back one page at a time.
Moments keeps search and the calendar switch at the top. Filter by tag inside search, add tags to records, and manage them in Settings.
Name your home
Open Settings → Home name to edit Name and Ending. Both are custom text, sharing a limit of 20 visible characters; Ending can be empty. Save applies the change. Closing the panel or tapping outside cancels unsaved edits. Use Miso’s place restores the default home title.
Record a moment
Use the capture button on Home or the input area in Moments. Write something, add photos or record a voice note. Photos can accompany text or a recording. Tags and reminders are optional. Your unfinished text is saved locally so you can return to it later.
Use Moments to browse, search or open the calendar. Open a saved moment to read it, then tap the pencil to edit its text, tags, media or reminder.
Keep a story going
Open Stories from Home and tap the bottom-right plus. Only a name is required; an intention, first milestone and one measurement with its unit are optional. Keep up to five stories open. Archive a story from its menu to make room without deleting its content, and use Archived to return to it.
Inside a story, Add an update saves text, photos or a recording to that story, not to Moments. You do not need to record every day. Text drafts are saved encrypted on this device; unsaved photo/voice attachments remain only for the current app session. Changes lets you compare two original updates, view photos side by side or with a slider, and compare values recorded with the same measure and unit. You can choose different originals, set and edit your own milestones, and write your own reflection. The app does not infer progress or write an AI summary.
Statistics or Data & storage?
Settings → Statistics shows recording trends over the past 7 or 30 days (7 days by default), with text, photos and voice on the same chart. Touch the chart to explore a date. Each included moment counts once by its primary type: photos first, then voice, then text. Mood capture is currently unavailable, and historical mood-only moments are excluded from statistics but remain saved. The three type counts add up to the period total.
Settings → Data & storage contains iCloud sync, export and deletion. It shows an estimate of original media size and attachment counts on this iPhone. The estimate excludes previews and the database; photo and voice counts here count attachments, rather than moments containing that type.
Tags in Statistics
Statistics shows up to five tags below your daily trend. Tap See all for the top fifteen tags in the selected period. Any remaining tag uses are grouped as Other; tap it to see those tags. Each tag is counted once per moment, so a moment with several tags contributes to several counts. Untagged moments are not part of Other.
Export your moments
- Open Settings → Data & storage → Export moments.
- Read the short notice and choose Export ZIP.
- Use the iOS share sheet to save the file or choose a destination.
The ZIP contains readable Markdown, structured JSON and media. It has no password and is not encrypted, so save it somewhere you trust. Canceling the confirmation creates no export. Exporting does not remove your records.
Stories content, including archived stories, is included as between.txt, between.json and original files in between-media/. Unsaved drafts are excluded.
This is a readable copy for use outside Between Days. The current app does not import this ZIP back into its journal. If export fails, your existing records remain in place; retry after checking available device storage. Large exports may exceed the current export limit. Contact support if it continues to fail, without attaching the private ZIP.
Sync with iCloud
Open Settings → Data & storage → iCloud sync, turn on the switch and confirm what will sync. Use the same Apple Account on your devices. Keep the app open and unlocked while it syncs; use Sync now to retry and check the status or last-sync time.
Saved moments and their media, transcripts, tags and confirmed action items sync, along with stories, updates, milestones and reflections. Local reminders, drafts, API keys and device settings do not. If you enabled an earlier Moments-only sync scope, update all your devices and confirm the new scope to resume. Tap the information button for details about privacy and turning sync off.
Turning sync off keeps existing copies. Turning it back on can apply changes and deletions made while it was off. Deletions also sync, so iCloud sync is not a separate backup. If a conflict produces a copy, review both versions before deleting either.
If sync cannot run, check the message in the app, your Apple Account's iCloud availability, connectivity and available iCloud storage. Do not uninstall the app to troubleshoot a journal you have not safely copied elsewhere.
Where did the AI features go?
AI is not included in this release. The chat icon, AI settings and action-item extraction buttons are hidden, and AI requests are disabled. There is no setting to turn them back on. Your cat's local interactions, recording, search and statistics continue to work.
If you used an earlier test version, updating keeps your existing moments, confirmed action items and saved AI configuration. Stored API keys are not used for requests, and the earlier key-management screen is unavailable. AI may be reconsidered for a later release; no features, release date or paid plan are promised.
Voice transcription and reminders
Transcription is available only when your device and language support on-device recognition. It does not switch to an online transcription service when unavailable.
Open Reminders from the Home calendar or To-dos in Settings. Tap an item to read its moment, then use the pencil to edit the reminder. Notifications require iOS permission; check Settings → Notifications if they are not appearing.
Notifications may show a record or transcript excerpt, or describe its media. To hide lock-screen previews, use iPhone Settings → Notifications → Between Days → Show Previews. Delivery can also be affected by Focus and other iOS settings. Reminders stay on the device where you set them; iCloud sync and export do not recreate them on another device.
Delete records
Delete individual moments from their detail view. To clear the moments currently stored on this iPhone, open Settings → Data & storage → Delete all moments and read the confirmation carefully.
This also removes their attachments, tags, drafts and reminders. It keeps app preferences, stored API keys and your purchase status. If iCloud is enabled now or later, the deletions can sync to other devices. Records that have not yet downloaded from iCloud are outside this local deletion. Copies exported or sent elsewhere are not removed.
Delete all moments keeps Stories. To delete a story, use its own menu and confirm permanent deletion of the story, its updates and milestones; this has no undo. Deleting just one update leaves the other updates intact. Use Archive instead if you want to keep everything and come back later. Story deletions also propagate when the expanded sync scope is enabled.
Plus, restoration and cancellation
Greenado Field and Midnight Signal are free. The current Plus offering unlocks Evolta Blue and Sage Ink. Statistics, export, iCloud sync and local cat interactions are available without Plus. AI is unavailable for all users in this release.
Use Restore purchases on the Plus page with the Apple Account used for the purchase. For a subscription, manage or cancel renewal in your Apple Account settings. Deleting moments or the app does not cancel it. Apple handles eligible refund requests.
Contact the developer
Email support@betweendays.net with the app version from Settings, your iOS version, what you expected and the steps that led to the issue. If useful, include a screenshot with private information covered. Do not send API keys, passwords or your journal export.
I cannot access your local journal or private iCloud database through a developer server. A short fictional example is usually enough to explain a problem.
